Ipadpit overview: DCS A-10C iPad cockpit

The IpadPit is a A10 cockpit profile made with the Ipad app "Touch IR+"  .This app was originally  designed to be used as a IPad Remote controller emulator for MediaCenter PC and Home systems.  I'm not the developer of this App, I found it in the Apple App store and think it is the best of it's kind!

I started this A10 cockpit after seeing ED forum member Metalnwood creating an custom made IPAD CDU. This was a home made development and due to the restrictions Apple put on developers it was not possible for him to make this available for the publlic. So I had to do it myself, finding a way to get my IPad acting as an CDU. I found the solutions in Touch IR+. By now I got a large part of the cockpit switches working, like the complete cold startup and for the next release live feed for the MFD and CDU Displays.

I'm flying A10C with the Ipadpit for a while now and I do notice that there is a limite to the usefullness of the button pushing on the Ipad. For some tasks you do need a bit more visual feedback. For example the radio settings, clicking the dialers for the right freq and checking you monitor can be a bit unhandy. I added a snap few button for this to make it a bit easier and that's already better than cranking you neck to get the radio console in view with your track IR. For me it adds a lot of immersionto use the Ipad for the cold startup, CDU and MDF. ( there is noting better than pushing an button to hear the big turbines spinning up)

It is up to you to see what fits you the best.

Be aware, there is a some configuring enfolded to get it all working and there might still be some issues, I cannot guarantee all will work perfectly for you. It is all open en you are free to change it as you like. As long you give credit to the people who deserves it and don't ask money for it.  And I hope you will share it with us!

Credits

Credits for helping me out go to Dave, the Touch IR developer, who listened to my requests for extra functionalities for Touch IR+,and to forum members MetalNwood for providing a basic for the MFD/CDU displays and Alphatoomega for showing me the way to go with animated switches. I found the CDU background and buttons on some forum I lost from my favorites, I've got no idea who the poster was, so if it's you let me know.

Donation

I put a lot of time and work into this project but decided to share it with you for free. Try it and if you think it's worth it you may support me with a donation. I can use it to take my lady out for dinner and convince her it's a good spent time. This way I can go on with improving the Ipadpit with more functionalities like the realtime MFD/CDU and animated switches!  ;)
